Hong Kong was eventually surrendered on December 25th, 1941 and the remaining soldiers were taken to prison camps in Hong Kong and Japan. At the end of the battle, about 290 Canadian soldiers were killed and as prisoners of war, about 264 more soldiers died. Also, about 500 Canadians were wounded.
